Accessibility statement
We want Treelace and treelace.com to be usable by everyone. This statement covers the website and the extension.
1. The website
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. The site uses semantic HTML, a "skip to content" link, labelled form fields, visible focus outlines, sufficient colour contrast, and it follows your system's light or dark mode and reduced-motion settings. The only time limit on the site is the "Open the billing portal" button on the purchase and recovery pages, which works for 30 minutes; after that, paste your key at treelace.com/manage instead. The site works without JavaScript except for the optional "Copy key" button.
2. The extension
- It uses your editor's theme colours, including high-contrast themes, and your editor's font and zoom settings.
- Everything can be done from the keyboard: arrow keys, Page Up/Down, Home and End move through commits; Enter opens details; Shift+F10 or the context-menu key opens the actions menu; Ctrl+F (Cmd+F) searches and F3 moves between results; Escape closes panels.
- The commit list is exposed to assistive technology as a list, with each row's message, author and date.
- In the rebase editor, commits can be reordered with Alt+Up and Alt+Down or the move buttons as well as by dragging.
- Actions that change your repository use your editor's own dialogs, which work with its screen reader support.
3. Known limitations
- The graph lines are drawn on a canvas and are not described to screen readers. The branch and parent information they show is available as text in each commit's details.
- We have tested keyboard use, but we have not yet tested with a screen reader. We plan to.
- Stripe's checkout and billing portal pages are run by Stripe and covered by Stripe's own accessibility work.
